Lee: [subtitled version] He looks determined... without being ruthless. There's something heroic about him. He doesn't look like a killer. He comes across so calm... acts like he has a dream... eyes full of passion.

One has to re-watch this movie from time to time just to adsorb the stupidity! Yes it's that funny! Tomatoes Still Humor Me.This is one of those it's so bad it's good type of films - that is exactly what it is suppose to be and that IS the comedy of the movie. This type of comedy is hard for a lot of people to "get": It's suppose to be cheesy and in bad taste... it is a deliberately cheesy b-rated movie that IS the humor of it. The movie is basically poking fun at older b-rated sci-fi horror movies that were meant to be scary - yet they came across as funny.I will be the first one to admit that you have to be in the right mood to watch a deliberately bad b-rated comedy film such as this one. But when the mood strikes just right, this movie can tickle-your-fancy!Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is a cult classic film - so it will not suit everyone's taste in b-rated comedies but it does suit mine from time to time.8/10

Now I know that there are some folks out there who simply do not like their vegetables. One viewing of Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes and you will swear off pasta, ketchup and all kinds of tomato products forever and ever. The notion here is that as they would say on Star Trek TNG tomatoes have become sensient beings. Their consciousness of self has brought a killer instinct to the plants as they absorb Blob like all other kinds of life. Can humankind survive the onslaught of the tomatoesThis was supposed to be a spoof of science fiction films. But sad to say it was brought to the screen by as untalented a group of players as have ever gathered. The direction they get ain't so hot either. Supposedly funny scenes are delivered badly as punch lines and situations are flubbed almost regularly. It's just all around bad folks. Unless you are a glutton for punishment skip this one.

For me, there's nothing worse than an unfunny comedy. Sure, plenty of horror films aren't horrifying, but at least they do entertain, even if you're laughing at them. Sometimes thrillers won't thrill but they're usually of interest anyway. But a comedy that just isn't funny...well, what's the point And I'm afraid to say that ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES! is THE unfunniest comedy I've ever had the misfortune to sit through, and this is from a guy who's seen a fair few Troma flicks in his lifetime. From the outset, you realise that this is going to be a broad, very broad, skit on the kind of '50s sci-fi movie epitomised by ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES, except a lot of those films were tongue-in-cheek anyway. ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES! quickly devolves into a series of quick-fire sketches, playing on the absurd humour. There's a meeting room that's too small so all the officials have to climb over the desk to sit down. A Japanese guy badly dubbed into English. A guy who parachutes in and drags his parachute around for the entire duration of the film. The tomatoes almost seem forgotten about at times, although there are a few scenes of people being chased by the huge fruit that rolls down the street after them. The ending is nonsensical and frankly embarrassing. The budget is non existent and the acting awful from the entire cast. There's no one-liner that works. Every trick in the book seems to have been thrown into the mix, like the Scooby Doo gag that comes from nowhere and goes back again just as fast. In fact, the only thing I liked about it was the catchy song that plays over the opening credits, but there's another eighty minutes of nonsense to sit through after that. Maybe, just maybe, this would have worked as a short, but as a feature film it's a dog. Avoid this one like the plague.
